How many EPC points for installing double glazing ?

When it comes to improving your home’s energy efficiency, installing double glazing windows is one of the first things that comes to mind. However, the cost of this can be very high, ranging from £4000 to £6000 for a 3 beds terraced house. Although double glazing is quite expensive, unfortunately it only adds 2-3 extra points to your EPC rating. There is a common misconception that installing double glazing significantly improves the EPC rating, but if your aim is to improve the EPC rating at lower costs, there are other areas where you can spend less and achieve more EPC points.

Also, there is another issue that arises with the double glazing. In conservation areas or if you are a leaseholder of a flat, you are not allowed to change the windows to double glazed. In this case, we recommend installing secondary glazing as an alternative. This method is also cheaper than double glazing.
